  • Our new to us DRV!

Wife and I have just purchased a new to us 2014 Mobile Suites Estates 39RESB3 with the optional 4th vanity slide. This rig has the 5500 LP gen, 2800 Magnum inverter, W/D and the Vegas Nights full body paint. Have been doing some replacement items on the rig as we speak; installed 4 new AGM 225 amp batteries, a new grey dump valve to replace the hard to work cable one. Adjusting doors, drawers and the like. We have full timed before and getting ready to do it again with a fifth wheel this time. Still figuring out some product features on the rig. It also has a dishwasher/garbage disposal and residential fridge to make life on the road much easier. Pulling it with a 2014 Ford F-450 DRW truck. Looking forward to adding information as we learn to assist others on this forum. Let the fun begin!

Awesome!! Hope you love it as much as we love ours. Just finished a six month west coast trip and looking forward to another. People on the road just love the DRV product..

Looks great. Have you been across the scales yet? I also have the same Generator, Inverter but original 4 wet batteries. which results in a 25% pin weight. The F450 is a good match with its brakes.
One modification I'm still in the process of making is putting Battery Disconnect switches to totally disconnect all battery power if I'm going to store the RV more than 2-3 weeks without power. From the Factory there was 5 devices that always drew power. The inverter is the biggest drain item. I'm rerouting the battery cable to run each battery directly to the inverter, I'm installing a 400 amp switch in each cable, then joining at the inverter fuse. In the end I will have 3 locations to totally disconnect/connect DC power. Not handy but better that running Generator every few weeks. The reason we store for brief time is convenience like next month we will be in Eastern Maryland, not a plce I want to take the truck

Good deal on the new rig!!!

I would highly advise getting rid of the disposal. You will end up with a food pyramid. You WILL love the dishwasher!!!

Something else I would suggest is to take out your drawers turn them over and run a bead of Loctite PL3 construction adhesive all around the drawer bottom where the bottom meets the sides. It will keep the bottom from falling outs the bottom is 1/4" thick and just floating inside the sides.

Clay, just a suggestion, maybe install a buss bar in the battery compartment and run all 5 devices and the batteries to it. Then install one battery disconnect switch between the buss bar and the batteries. I did this, minus the disconnect switch because we full time. Cleaned up all the individual wires and makes isolating one item from the circuit easier and simpler. Again, just a suggestion.

Why a 400 amp switch in each cable? Way over kill and does not add any sort of protection. Unless you just like spending money. Would it make sense to put a 400 amp switch on a house that only had a 100 amp panel?

Richandjanice has the correct solution using a buss bar, then add 1 properly sized switch. Good luck

My biggest job is finding the room in a battery compartment for the Bus Bar plus working room. I am working toward a limited bus bar but I will cutting and terminating some of the 4/0 cables In battery compartment DS Battery compartment when I bought the RV each battery post had 4 cables/wires where the ODS only had 3 cables. My mini Bus Bars will allow battery maintenance to be preformed easy. The 5 devices I referred did not include the 12 volt fuse panel power through the Factory installed kill switch. The switches I'm installing are not load break and made by Marinco

Part the battery load is the 2800 watt invertor which would draw over 260 amps. The power cables are 4/0 ( rated over 400 amps), the DC input fuse to the invertor is 400 Amp so I didn't want to install a weak link. True if the batteries are balanced in load and I wouldn't expect much over 2000 watts continuous I could do with lighter duty switches and save enough to buy two pieces of pie and coffee.
I hope to send pictures some time some time when I get this phase done.

I kinda of understand what Duane is going through as posted on the General Topics. When I was at the Factory nearly 2 years ago, I hoping for some DC wiring changes (switches Install) and wiring cleanup. The answer I received was " We can't do that as that would change the design. We give some parts and wiring if you want to make changes." I could only say "not changes but make improvements" and then escorted out of an office..

Thank you all for your kind comments on our rig! I agree on the disposal, not a good idea for your grey tank! Not sure who came up with that idea? On the battery disconnect, could you not just put a switch between the positive battery cable going to the 400 amp catastrophic fuse and the inverter?
