  • New shoe rack finished

Found a spot for more shoe storage to get them away from the door area.
Built from a nice piece of curly maple, stained and finished to the Crossfire Maple wood in the MS. Maybe you can see the wavy pattern of the maple used. Fastened to the wall with four small angle brackets.

          David,
It's 11 1/2 wide, 10 deep, and 36 tall. It rests on the step and is fastened to the wall with four 1 1/2" L brackets.
The 7 shelves are set at a 20* angle so the shoes don't fall out when traveling.
The stain is MinWax Ipswich Pine (2 coats). Then clear satin polyurethane.

That is a good spot. Right now, I keep our vacuum there when we're sitting.

We need at least one shelf with enough height for work boots. Would look really nice in the bedroom closet, too. Would work for sweaters and jeans if you don't have enough shoes.

                Dang good job, David.

However, there is no way that I will allow my wife to see that photo. I refuse to let her be tempted with that additional space for shoes. When we go married, she forgot to put in a second pair of shoes for the honeymoon. So, with less than 24 hours of marriage, I was having to buy her some shoes.

Now, maybe I could show her the picture and tell her is was designed for something OTHER than shoes.

I need a 8' x 12' tag a long trailer for my brides shoes. She is from the old school. For every outfit she has shoes, a purse and jewelry to match; and she takes them with her when we travel!!!!!! But she looks good. She is the class act for a class act coach.

Gee, I just wish we had a BIL with a shop. We'd go visit for a long weekend, so David could make up a couple for me. I need at least 2 (with flat shelves). One for the steps and one in the bedroom closet for storage.

The residential storage shelf options I've been looking at aren't workable. Either they hang from the wall or worse are cloth bags that hang from the closet pole. Freestanding units are made of MDF or are too wide/short for the spaces I need filled. I need something custom again.
